Epilogi Choirs

Epilogi has been presented in the cultural life of Cyprus through its choirs (Musical Workshop, Children’s Choir, Youth Choir and Mixed Choir).

 

Our choirs have participated in international festivals and choral competitions and have been awarded significant prizes.

Epilogi Mixed Choir

The Choir was founded in March of 2000 and is composed of approximately 50 members.                     

 

Has participated in a variety of events both in Cyprus and abroad (Greece, Italy, France, Hungary and Austria). Within the framework of international partnerships with other choirs, members of the choir have participated in workshops and concerts in countries such as Czech Republic, United Kingdom and Poland.

 

The Choir has appeared with significant Choirs and Orchestras from Cyprus and abroad.

A team from the Choir, together with the “Epilogi Youth Choir” took part in presenting distinguished works, such as “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff (at the “KYPRIA” Festival, with the “Concert Orchestra” from Budapest), “Sunrise Mass” by contemporary Norwegian composer Ola Gjielo, with a String Orchestra (at the “RIALTO” Theatre in Limassol), and on December of 2014 participated in the “KYPRION SYNAVLIA” that took place in Vienna Austria.

The Choir’s repertoire includes classical works from the Renaissance up to the 20thcentury, works of contemporary Cypriot and Greek composers, as well as adaptations of Cypriot traditional music and traditional music of the world.

 

EPILOGI Children’s Choir

It was founded in 1996, the first of the choral groups of Cultural Movement EPILOGI of Limassol. It is made up of approximately 50 children, aged between 9-16 years. The Children’s Choir has taken part in numerous choral Festivals, concerts and other events, both in Cyprus and abroad. It has performed in Italy (2000, 2008), in Greece (Zakynthos, Polygyros, Rhodes, Nafplio, and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens (2004), in Hungary (2005, 2010), Serbia (2006), France (2006, 2012) and the Czech Republic (2007).

The choir has been awarded with bronze medals at International Competitions in Prague (2007) and Nafplio (2016).

In the Fall of 2007 the choir participated in the production of “Carmina Burana” at KYPRIA International Festival, in collaboration with soloists from Hungary, together with other choirs from Cyprus. It has taken part in the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas Concert in December 2008, where together with the EPILOGI Youth Choir and the “Fulda Cathedral Youth Choir” presented “Mass of the Children” by Rutter, in a nationwide premiere. In December 2013, together with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, the choir participated in the production “The Selfish Giant”.

The Children’s Choir has collaborated with the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation’s Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Concert Orchestra and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, with Conductors G. Pylarinos, Notis Georgiou, Franz Peter Huber, Francois Duchamp, Sotiris Alevizos, Viasheslav Vollich, Alkis Baltas, and Konstantinos Diminakis.

The choir’s repertoire includes classical works from the Renaissance up to present, works of contemporary International, Greek and Cypriot composers, as well as cover versions of traditional songs.

The Children’s Choir is a member of the European Choral Association EUROPA CANTAT

EPILOGI “Music Workshop”

The “Music Workshop” is one of the choral groups of Cultural Movement “EPILOGI” of Limassol.

It was founded in 2005, aiming to gradually bring younger children in contact with polyphonic choral music, and to prepare them for a smooth integration to the EPILOGI “Children’s Choir”.

EPILOGI “Music Workshop” is made up of children aged between 7-11years.

Since its founding day the “Music Workshop” has taken part in various events and concerts.
